The Hunt: Kruger Park South Africa

We were lucky to see a Cheetah stalking a herd of Impala on our recent visit to the Kruger. Patience is the watchword for the predator and this sequence of pics was taken over a half hour period as the Cheetah waited for its chance to pursue her prey. Pleased to report that the sentry Impala warned the herd in sufficient time for them to escape and live another day. We learnt from rangers later that this Cheetah had two cubs and that Cheetah were not always successful in their hunts. As this was early afternoon with an abundance of Impala in the area she no doubt met with success later on.

Preparing for the chase

The hunt was abandoned.
The focus of attention and probably the sentry who warned the rest of the herd.
