Bhutan is located in the eastern Himalayas and is bordered by China and India. It has a population of around 700,000 most of whom are subsistence farmers. Only in recent years has Bhutan opened up to tourism and numbers remain relatively low at around 20,000 visitors a year. See my journal entry for more detail on Bhutan.
